Keryx (KERX):

Well that was quick. Last week Keryx announced some very promising survival data for their drug perifosine from their phase II colon cancer trial. And this morning the company announced that they worked with the FDA to come to an agreement on the design of a Special Protocol Assessment Phase III for Perifosine in Colon cancer patients. The primary endpoint is the usual gold standard of Overall Survival and secondary endpoints are Overall Response Rate and Progression Free Survival. In the Phase II trial the data looked very promising, with patients on perifosine achieving a 7 month increase in overall survival. To read a full analysis of the data click here

Auxilium Pharmaceuticals (AUXL):

It’s about time. This morning the FDA finally approved the company’s Xiaflex for treatment of Dupuytren contracture. I have personally been waiting months for this approval to come through. In fact, I can’t believe the FDA waited so long to approve the drug, because the only alternative to treatment is mutilating hand surgery.
