Hemispherx Biopharma said this morning that one of their drugs was approved for use in by the Indian Drugs Controller for Phase II clinical trials. The trial will test Alferonn on patients suffering from influenza. However, investors are more focused on what HemispherX is going to do to move forward the advancement of Ampligen, their lead product. Last year, the drug was rejected by the FDA and the company was issued a complete response letter for use in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) patients. In the letter the FDA requested that the company run another clinical trial on the patients with more thorough and rigorous safety and efficacy endpoints. » Read more: Daily Pharma Watch

Geron (GERN):

Geron said this morning that they have seen positive data in an animal model of their small molecule telomerase activator TAT153 in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The data looked positive and showed that TAT153 reduced inflammation, preserved lung function and slowed progression of the disease in the model. However, the drug is several years out in development, but there are currently not many options out there for patients of IPF and a new treatment hasn’t been approved for over 50 years. » Read more: Daily Pharma Watch
